Celebrate the oak tree planted in McKennan Park in memory of those who served in WWI.

100 years ago, the History Club of Sioux Falls planted an oak tree in McKennan Park to commemorate those who served in WWI and that tree still stands today providing shade to everyone who enjoys the park. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation along with the History Club of Sioux Falls invites guests to celebrate this magnificent oak tree’s 100 years in the park by enjoying light refreshments while speaking with members of the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s Forestry team, members of the History Club of Sioux Falls, as well as a WWI reenactor. A short presentation will take place at 2 p.m. under the shade of the oak tree that has been gracing the park since 1922.
