The Dreaded School Bedtime Routine

Aug 03, 2022 ● By The Hood Magazine
Find it difficult to put your child to bed when the sun is still out? Us too! It's no secret, we let the bedtime routines slack during the Summer months. But now that we are headed back to school soon, it's time to get back to catching some earlier zzz's. Here are two tips to help ease the change!

  • Little changes = success. Telling your child to go to bed an hour or two earlier than normal (especially when it is still light out!) is probably not going to go well. Instead, make little adjustments each day. Shoot for 15-20 minutes earlier each day, and by the time the week is over you will be back on track!
  • Make bed time fun. As a child the idea to come in from outside to clean up and go to bed is a pretty big bummer. So make bed time extra fun! Try picking out a new book to read before bed for awhile, or plan on playing a quiet game to help that wind down time not seem like such a chore.
