Looking for a free, fun summer activity perfect for the whole family?  Look no further than the Levitt. Located in downtown Sioux Falls in Falls Park West, Levitt at the Falls is a community gathering space where 50 FREE professional concerts occur throughout the summer.  You can catch a show each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from June 3 – September 10th.  Plus ‘Hood magazine has the details on 5 Friday morning shows geared specifically to youth, youth groups and families that you won’t want to miss.  A diverse line-up of amazing artists representing a wide variety of musical genres with several GRAMMY wins under their belts are coming to Sioux Falls to share their music with the youth of Sioux Falls and the best news is…it’s all free!

Sonia De Los Santos has been hailed by Billboard as “one of the Latin Children’s music artists you should know”. Her award-winning bi-lingual music explores hope; cherishing our homes, dreaming of a better future, marveling at nature, and finding light within ourselves.  

 

Ayiti: Stories and Songs from Haiti   Friday, June 24  

In Ayiti: Stories and Songs from Haiti, Inez Barlatier and her family band celebrate Haitian art and culture through energetic drumming and singing, colorful costumes and traditional dances, folktales and visual art. Inez’s joyful songs explore the themes of community and gratitude.  


Jazz for Kids  Friday, July 8   

During this interactive concert, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra will explore the language of jazz music.  SJMO is an ensemble that is part of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.  and is comprised of some of the nation’s best jazz musicians and educators.  

 

Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience 

Creole 4 Kidz!   Friday, July 22  

This dynamic performance explores Louisiana Creole culture and zydeco music history with 2-time GRAMMY award-winner, Terrence Simian and the Zydeco Experience.  Terrance can be heard on the Disney soundtrack of The Princess & The Frog - his lively musical gumbo will have the whole family movin’ and groovin’ in no time!  


The Secret Agency   Friday, August 5  

Tapping into the GRAMMY winning catalogue from rapper Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, this electric ensemble combines the lyrical style of golden age hip hop with the raw emotional power of funk. On stage, The Secret Agency’s live shows are alive with call-and-response anthems and ecstatic beats that have the kids jumping to their feet.  


When to Arrive for the Friday morning Family Shows:  Lawn Opens at 10:00am and Music Starts at 10:30am.  Each concert will last approximately one hour.   

Did you know?  The Levitt Family Music series is sponsored by an anonymous donor supporting Therapy Dogs International.  The Therapy Dogs will be present for visits at each of the Friday morning family shows. 

What to Bring:  Lawn chairs or a blanket, sunscreen and hats, and the family!
