New Year New You - Start Your New Year Right With These Tips from Balanced Life Chiropractic

2020 sure has been a year no one will ever forget. Before we go into 2021, make sure to take some time to reflect on the year. What were good things that happened? What are some things to work on? Taking the time to look back will help you to determine what kind of changes you want to make in the coming year.  

What are some popular new year’s resolutions? 

• Exercise more  

• Eat healthier  

• Read more  

• Spend more time with family 

 Whatever you want to change why wait? There is plenty of time left in 2020 to start some of those things now!  

The most common resolution is to get in better shape. Even with the holidays coming you can still make healthier changes today. Start with small things that over time will make a big change. You can start with drinking more water and less sugary drinks. Studies say you should drink half of your body weight in ounces every day!  

Eating healthier is something many people struggle with. The best way to make lasting change is to make changes to your diet that are sustainable. Start small by including a few servings of veggies with every meal. If you need help there are great resources at www.choosemyplate.gov.  

The biggest change is to work-out more. So, what are some ways to help get in more exercise? There are little things like taking the stairs, parking farther away, and going for a walk. Starting a gym membership is a great way to hold yourself accountable to get more exercise. If you need help most gyms have trainers that would love to help you reach your health goals! The American Institution of Sports Medicine recommends getting 30 minutes of moderate exercise 3-5x per week. Exercise is beneficial not only to decrease waistlines but also reduce health risks, improves mental health, and leads to better sleep.  

The best way to make change is to start small. Make sure you give yourself time to make those changes.  No matter what happened in 2020, just like in years past, we always look forward to what the new year will bring.
