It’s that time of year, when the days are getting longer and warmer. Although there is definitely a hint of spring in the air, we unfortunately still have to wait a little while before we can start to plant a real garden. So until then, this interactive paper garden is a fun alternative!
2 paper plates
Blue and brown paint
Paint brushStapler (optional, but comes in handy!)
1.Paint one plate blue and the backside of another plate brown. You only need half of the brown plate so don’t worry about painting the whole thing. 2. Once your paint is dry, cut the brown plate in half, this is the dirt.
3.Attach the half brown plate to the blue plate, creating a pocket. You could use tape or glue for this, but a stapler makes this quick and easy!
4.Fold a half piece of green paper like a fan. Cut several slits on one of the ends. Unfold and now have your grass! Glue onto the blue plate.
5.Cut a brown piece of construction paper into several small strips. Crinkle them up to use as dirt filler in your garden.
Now your garden is ready for some vegetables!
Using paper and glue, make some vegetables for your garden. Some easy ones we made were corn, tomatoes, and carrots!
When your vegetables are ready, “plant” them in your garden! Take advantage of this time to talk about how food grows, colors, healthy options and so much more!
