Usually it’s your family, close friends or co-workers who invite you to these showers, and it’s customary to buy things on the registry that the family needs, like: diapers, a baby swing, blankets, and of course the best – baby clothes! Surely these are the cutest, most fun things to buy for showers, and everyone loves seeing baby in adorable sun dresses, or little tiny overalls...but what about Mom?

This amazing woman has gone through the most complete, life-changing experience physically possible for a human to undergo. Her body went through many changes: nausea and heartburn, many sleepless nights, swollen and sore breasts, and now labor. More often than not, mom is the last person that is considered during a baby shower. It’s all about baby, right? Surely, but mom definitely needs some pampering and attention as well. Here are some great unique gift options that will benefit her, which in turn benefits the entire family.

First of all, taking care of a newborn at night is daunting. Breastfeeding, pumping, making formula, changing diapers, trying to sleep…it’s a lot to take on. All of this while being extremely sore from just giving birth! Moms need wonderful comfy items to make all of these tasks easier and more enjoyable. While moms might have thought about comfy clothes, maybe a new luxurious robe would make her nursing easier; especially if her baby happens to spit up or pee all over her regular clothes. Another great item is a new pair of slippers for mom: super handy when running around the house at night.

Now what about relaxing? While a great recliner is essential in the nursery, you probably won’t be buying one for a baby shower. Something that you can buy instead is a great neck pillow to use while your friend is nursing or just rocking baby in the middle of the night. These, like the Boppy pillow, are essential to a great nighttime experience for mom, as she often takes the brunt of the strain while holding her newborn. While a product like the Boppy pillow supports the baby during breastfeeding, a neck pillow supports the mother. These unique pillows solve many problems, by supporting mom’s neck and head while she is relaxing in a recliner, nursing or rocking her baby. It is a small item that doesn’t take up a lot of room and really helps mom relax anytime she can!

These pillows are a relatively new invention, and are normally available at local baby boutiques and sometimes in chiropractic offices. Your friends, family and co-workers will love any soft, comfy item you buy them. So remember, while any gift is thoughtful and appreciated at a baby shower, please, while shopping for your next gift, don’t forget about Mom. She will value it more than you know!
