After School Snack Ease

08/22/2017 08:37AM ● By Digital Media Director
'Hood recently had the chance to visit KDLT News and show off some easy ideas for snack prepping! This is perfect for those after school moments that are often filled with appointments, practices, and trying to get dinner on the table.

Prep these treats on Sunday and they will be conveniently ready to throw in the backpack or diaper bag for those on-the-go moments!

We purchased little plastic containers with lids, that you can find in almost any store next to the plastic bags. (Baggies work too!) These make it easy to stack, store, and grab!

If you missed us on KDLT, you can check it out here!

For details on our snacks, read below.

Bite-Size Popcorn Balls
-1 bag of microwave popcorn
-1/2 stick of butter
-1  10oz bag of marshmallows

Pop popcorn according to instructions. Melt butter and marshmallows together and coat on popcorn. Keep it simple and leave it like this or add in some mini chocolate chips for an extra treat! Form into a mini ball shape. Store in a container or wrap individually for extra convenience.

Granola Bites
-1 1/4 C of old fashioned oats
-1/4 C of Honey or Agave
-1/2 C of peanut butter (substitute with almond butter, sun butter, etc.)
Combine ingredients. Add in anything "extra" that you would like: coconut, flax seed, mini chocolate chips, dried fruit- get creative! Form into mini ball shapes. If mixture is a little sticky, just throw the bowl in the fridge for awhile!

Kids Trail Mix
-Goldfish Crackers
-Chocolate Chips/M&M's
-Nuts (optional)
Combine all ingredients. Separate out serving size scoops into little bowls or baggies for a quick snack you can grab or throw in a backpack.
