Family Gets Fit 2017 Update

Landon is doing great with his workouts. He's lost 12 pounds and his coworkers and friends are really noticing how lean and muscular he's looking. Heather loves every day at Koko. She's lost 16 pounds, which puts her just over halfway to her 30-pound weight-loss goal. She's feeling way more energy and more confidence, too. They both got their orange medallion for completing their workout goals for last month. They love the meal plan and are finding lots of new healthy favorites!  

How are you feeling about your progress so far?
I'm feeling good about my progress so far. I'm realizing that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I want to make changes that are sustainable, that I can incorporate long term for myself and for my family. 

So far, I'm feeling pretty darn good! Seeing the changes in how far I can push myself is beyond exciting and I know it's just going to keep getting better! 

What has been the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge for me has been learning how to get back on track after hitting a bump. Anytime you're trying to make positive changes, life tends to throw you a curve ball. Questions come up such as, "How can I get through cravings?" or "How do I return to training after an illness?" Luckily, Koko has been there to support me and answer my questions along the way. 

The biggest challenge is really just getting myself out the door. Once I get to the gym, the motivation kicks in and the workouts are great! 

What are you most excited about?
It's exciting to have people notice my results. At Koko, they have a machine called the FitCheck that calculates an "eBMI". It's a more complete picture than the traditional BMI chart. When I first started, I was losing a lot of weight, but my eBMI wasn't budging. (I've learned that women tend to lose some muscle mass before they start losing fat. It's just the way our bodies are programmed.) As I kept at it, my weight loss plateaued a bit, but my muscle mass increased and my eBMI started to drop. That's when people really started saying they could see a positive change!
Last weekend was winter formal, and I discovered that my suit was suddenly too big! That was a good problem to have! 

What have you thought about your experience so far?
So far, this has been an amazing experience! Koko really is such a supportive, encouraging environment. I've ran into old friends who I had no idea were training there, and I've made new friends there, too.  It's really inspiring when other Koko members tell me their success stories! 

This experience has been more than I could have hoped for already. I'm feeling and looking better, and meeting awesome people, too.
