What a fun morning we had and pulled off quite a surprise for Mr. Ferri and 4th grader Emerson Townsend who nominated him for Hood Magazine's Teacher of the Year Award. For the 3rd year in a row, the KSFY Morning Show got to debut the winner before magazines hit store shelves and before the winner knows they won. Hood President & Publisher Steff Liston-Holtrop helped us pull off the fun feat.

Hood Magazine has named it’s 2015 Teacher of the Year. Mark Ferri is in his 13th year of teaching and has spent the last five years at Lawrence Elementary School in Canton, S.D. As the school’s music teacher, Mr. Ferri says he enjoys sharing his greatest passion, the gift of music, with his students.

Ferri is a native of Omaha, N.E. and earned his bachelor of arts in K-12 Vocal and Instrumental Music from William Penn College in Oskaloosa, I.A. Ferri lives in Sioux Falls with his wife and two children. In his spare time outside of the classroom, Ferri enjoys spending time as a worship leader at Messiah New Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
